Now notes:

Note No. 1
The children of David could be divided into four groups. The first group would be the first six children born in Hebron. The second group would be the four children of Bathshua the daughter of Ammiel, they were born in Jerusalem. And the third group would be the children born to other wives and the fourth group the sons of the concubines, who are not named. Davidís first wife was Michal the daughter of Saul; she had no child unto the day of her death.

Note No. 2
Davidís son Solomon became his successor as king of Israel. Solomonís son Rehoboam did not become king of Israel, but only king of Judah, the southern kingdom.

Note No. 3
The last king of Judah was Zedekiah. Zedekiah was the third son of King Josiah. The successor of King Josiah was King Jehoahaz, the son of Josiah. Jehoahaz reigned 3 months in Jerusalem. Pharaoh Nechoh replaced him with Eliakim, also a son of Josiah, and turned the name Eliakim to Jehoiakim. Jehoiakim reigned 11 years in Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, made Jehoiakim his servant. Jehoiakim was succeeded by his son Jehoiachin, who reigned three month in Jerusalem, and the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his fatherís brother king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah. Zedekiah reigned 11 years in Jerusalem. He was the last king of Judah.

Note No. 4
The above table has Zerubbabel at the end, shown as descendant of David. He was therefore of the royal house of Judah and was appointed by Cyrus, King of Persia, governor of Judah.

Note No. 5
A famous son of David is Solomon, his successor as king of Israel. The most famous descendant of David is Jesus. Jesus is called the son of David and this is an indication of the importance of David.

Note No. 6
Solomon was the son of Bathshua the daughter of Ammiel. There are four sons of Bathshuba listed as sons of David; the second group. David had a son from Bathshuba before these four, but his name is not given. This son died young. Bathsuba or Bathsheba was the wife of Uriah.

Note No. 7
David caused the death of Uriah and felt guilty about this. When Nathan the prophet tried to straighten David out with the story of the stolen lamb then David condemned the thief saying he shall restore the lamb fourfold. David repented then when Nathan told David that David is the thief. And because David repented, Nathan told him that the Lord has put away his sin. But Davidís own words of condemnation still came to pass, he had to pay fourfold. He lost four of his sons, the first son of Bathshuba and Amnon and Absalom and Adonijah and his daughter Tamar got raped.

Note No. 8
David therefore really knew the reason why his sons died premature deaths and did not punish the people who actually caused the death of his sons. He did not punish them because he felt that it was actually he himself with his negative statement who was the cause of his loss.

Note No. 9
In 2 Samuel 17:25 Abigail is called the daughter of the man Nahash, sister to Zeruiah, Joabís mother. The sisters of David, Abigail, is therefore a half-sisters of David, they have the same mother but not the same father. In 2 Samuel 17:25 Abigail is called the sister to Zeruiah Joabís mother. This could mean that also Zeruiah is a daughter of Nahash and a half-sister of David. Maybe their mother was a wife of Jesse who had children from a previous marriage. Abishai, Joab and Asahel, Davidís nephews, the sons of Zeruiah and three great generals of David, also seem to be more of the same age as David because when David became king, when he was 30 years old, they were already grown up men.

Note No. 10
Here some information about Davidís age and the length of his reign:
2 Samuel 2:10-11, Ishbosheth Saul's son was forty years old when he began to reign over Israel, and reigned two years. But the house of Judah followed David. And the time that David was king in Hebron over the house of Judah was seven years and six months.
2 Samuel 5:4-5, David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned forty years. In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
1 Kings 2:11, And the days that David reigned over Israel were forty years: seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
1 Chronicles 3:4, The first six were born unto David in Hebron; and there he reigned seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years.
1 Chronicles 29:27 And the time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
King David made his son Solomon king (1 Kings 1:43) and therefore David still lived when Solomon became king and could have lived several years after that.

Note No. 11
David had purposeful female ancestors like among others Tamar, Rahab (Matthew 1:5) and Ruth. Ruth gives an example how a woman can show a man that she favours him. She came softly, and uncovered Boazí feet, and laid her down. Ruth had two mother-in-laws, Naomi and Rahab.

Note No. 12
David's favoured confession was The Lord saves me from all trouble. Read more about this: 101
